Attend this session to understand the changing trends in college admissions and role of institutions in helping students explore their passions and future careers.

The topics covered in this informal discussion will also include how to select a college that suits your needs, and how admission deans select students. 

After a presentation highlighting the distinctive features of a liberal arts and sciences education there will be an opportunity for students and parents to ask individual questions.

Angel Perez's short bio
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the South Bronx, Dr. Angel B. Pérez is an education administrator, author, speaker, teacher, and student advocate. He's served in secondary and higher education leadership positions throughout the U.S. and travels globally to speak on issues of American education. He is the author of many articles and textbook chapter. For years, Angel taught in the college counseling certification program of UCLA and recieved the appointment of Master Teacher. He currently teaches in the Educational Studies Department of Trinity College serves as International Visiting Faculty Member at Rikkyo University in Japan during the summer.

Angel is a Fulbright Alumnus and serves on the Scholar Peer Review Committee for Fulbright. His research interests include the operationalization of institutional mission, college access, and student success. He is a former Fellow at the Bowen Institute for Higher Education Policy and in 2016, Governor Dannel Malloy of Connecticut appointed Angel to the New England Board of Higher Education.

Angel has served in various advisory or board positions with organizations including: The College Board, Hartford Youth Scholars Foundation, the National Association for College Admission Counseling, Skidmore College, Fulbright, the University of Southern California's School of Education and the Coca Cola Scholarship Foundation. He currently serves as a Trustee of United World College (UWC) in Costa Rica and the Berkshire School in Massachusetts.

Angel has been the recipient of several prestigious awards including the National Association for College Admission Counseling's Editor's Award for Outstanding Publication, two awards from Claremont Graduate University for Excellence in the Study of Higher Education, and several national counseling association awards for his leadership on behalf of low-income, first-generation students. He holds degrees from Skidmore College, Columbia University, and Claremont Graduate University.
