Sarah Lawrence College
Founded in 1926, Sarah Lawrence College is located in southern Westchester County, New York, in the city of Yonkers. It is a private liberal arts college with a student body of 1300. It does not consider SAT scores as part of their admission process.Students create their own academic programs, and can design their own course of study. Small seminar-style classes that integrate creative and performing arts into the program are held at SLC. The most popular concentrations at Sarah Lawrence include literature, history, psychology, writing, and visual arts. Aspiring psychologists—a significant group on campus—may participate in fieldwork at the college’s Early Childhood Center. The college offers need-based and merit-based financial aid to international students. 90% of Sarah Lawrence students live on campus and benefit from the college’s proximity to New York City.
Ringling College of Art & Design
Ringling College of Art & Design attracts students from around the world who are committed to pursuing careers in the visual arts. The College offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ten studio-based majors: Advertising Design, Computer Animation, Digital Filmmaking, Fine Arts, Game Art and Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Motion Design, and Photography. The College also offers an interdisciplinary B.A. degree in Business of Art and Design, which is focused on creative entrepreneurship and is also available as a minor. Ringling alumni are employed by Apple, Pixar, DreamWorks, Abercrombie & Fitch, Disney Animation and Disney Imagineering, to name a few. Students come from 55 countries, and 23% of the Class of 2018 is from outside of the United States. A full-time international student advisor assists with and provides information about visa applications, orientation to the College and life in the US, employment opportunities and regulations, study abroad, and academic advising.
Denison University
Denison University is ranked amongst the "Science 50", "Business 50" and "International 50" US colleges. The student body size of 2100 gives students the opportunity to interact (and do research with) professors. Denison’s general education requirements are division-based. Students take two first-year seminars, and then during their four years, two courses each in the fine arts, the sciences (one with lab), the social sciences, the humanities, and a foreign language. Students must also complete an “interdivisional requirement” by selecting a course from one of seven interdisciplinary programs, including black studies, East Asian studies, environmental studies, international studies, Latin American and Caribbean studies, queer studies, and women’s studies. Taking the SAT is optional for applicants. There are very good merit-based and need-based scholarships offered to qualified international students.
Trinity College (Hartford Connecticut)Trinity College is a private liberal arts college in Hartford, Connecticut. Founded in 1823, as an Episcopal Church alternative to Yale. It is the second-oldest college in the state of Connecticut. Trinity is noted as one of the Little Ivies, along with universities and colleges such as Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Amherst, Middlebury, Swarthmore, Wesleyan and Williams College. The student body size is 2300. The college is known for its Engineering and Human Rights program. They have excellent internship and research opportunities. SAT is optional and not required for admission to Trinity College.
