Ivy Plus: Highly selective colleges that include the 8 Ivy League schools and then some more selective institutions 

Tier 1: Top public or private research schools that are highly selective and generally have a great return on investment 

Liberal Arts: Small schools that are selective, generous in terms of aid, and aims to impart a broad general knowledge & develop general intellectual capacities, in contrast to a professional, vocational, or technical curriculum.

Other: Other schools are usually less selective public and private colleges; arts & design schools; or colleges that don't fit a traditional category.
